English as a Second Language (ESL)

Basics of spoken and written American English for foreign-born individuals

Classes are in small groups and are customized by the requirements specific to the students' jobs. Content and vocabulary are determined through consultation with each sponsoring company.

ESL I assumes little or no knowledge of English. Learners are introduced to basic expressions, sounds and sentence structure.

ESL II builds on the skills introduced in ESL I to increase understanding and the ability to communicate more complex thought. There is increased emphasis on original expression and pronunciation.

ESL III focuses on raising written and conversational skills to a higher level of proficiency by enhancing listening, reading and comprehension skills and introducing more complicated material.
